Madrid Waxwork Museum plans to move the figure of the Duke of Palma, Iñaki Urdangarin -husband of the Spanish Infanta Cristina - from its current place, located next to the Kings of Spain and her daughters.

The Waxwork Museum Committee, which is responsible for taking such decisions, will hold a meeting this week after which they will move the figure of Urdangarin to another place in the exhibit.

However, the same sources reported that they will not be removing the statue of the former handball player to the storeroom, but probably to a place it in the Hall of Sports.

The museum has considered making the change since it was revealed that King Juan Carlos's son-in-law would stop taking part in official ceremonies because of business dealings that are currently under investigation.

Urdangarin, 43, is reportedly suspected of siphoning funds from public contracts awarded from 2004 to 2006 to a non-profit foundation he then headed.

The wax model of Jaime de Marichalar, 46, the divorced husband of Spanish Infanta Elena, was also removed from Madrid's waxwork museum last year. Workers removed the figure of the aristocratic banker to a storage facility with the help of a wheel barrow.
